Sideline watch

Sporting News, The, August 6, 2001 by Fritz Quindt

* Sideline watch: I'm OK with Lesley Visser visiting the Monday-night radio booth this fall, And ESPN promoting Suzy Kolber to Sunday Night Football's sideline is a natural; she's as talented as Bonnie Bernstein and Melissa Stark and more professional. But when ESPN's new NFL producer, Jay Rothman, talks of "redefining the role of the reporter" to make her an extension of the booth, come on.

When expert analysis is required, compared with Solomon Wilcots or Mark Malone (ex-jocks), Kolber surely can't offer the same perspective.
