1 The trading deadline, I'm a Rockies fan, so it passed with the same answers as always for my team: Buyer? No. Cellar? Yes.

2 NFL training camp. Boy, times change. Instead of a dormitory with no air conditioning, the local team is staying at--get this--a Sheraton. Hurt the QB in practice and you don't get a chocolate on your pillow that night.

3 The D.L. Is it just me? Does it seem like a lot of baseball teams are banged up? I hear FOX is considering a three-man booth: Buck, McCarver and Dr. Gregory House.

4 Golf majors. The PGA Championship clearly rates far behind the others in the rotation. Think of it this way: It's golf's version of Bronson Arroyo.

5 Monday Night Football. Madden is leaving, Michaels is staying. And nary a peep about Hank Williams Jr. ... just like the music scene in Nashville since the late '80s.
