'I wonder if (or how) NASCAR will tweak the Chase next year if I Jeffy and Junior don't make it this year'.--Loren J. Rudd, Louisville
* I'm 45 years old and a lifetime Bostonian. I've just spent the last two hours (or should I say "owaz") smiling, laughing and, yes, tearing up reading about Boston, the Best Sports City (TSN, August 12).Thank you so much for reinforcing what a wicked pissah town I've grown up in.--Eddie Bennett, Brighton, Mass.

* As a native of Chicago, I don't want to pick on Boston being No. 1. They deserve it. The problem I do have is Minneapolis-St. Paul being ranked ahead of Chicago. Minneapolis-St. Paul's teams might have done well, but their fans only show up when their teams win, and most fans don't have a clue as to what's really going on on the playing field. For heaven's sake, I'm still looking for a quality sports bar in this darn state.--Joe Drennan, Forest Lake, Minn.
* Pete Rose is banned from baseball for betting on the game. Why shouldn't Rafael Palmeiro receive the same stiff penalty? Future Hall of Famer? I hope not.--Dale Peterson, Littlefork, Minn.
* Unlucky No. 13 for Denver? Come on! We are a much better sports city than the majority of your top 10.--Joel Aragon, Denver
* I respect Paul Attner as a writer, but how can Curtis Martin be left off a list of the top five running backs in the NFL (TSN, August 12)? If leading the league in rushing at 31 years old does not warrant a spot as a top five back, what does?--Brian Bohl, Massapequa Park, N.Y.
