Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez is not going to have a long career because he has such a violent delivery. A's closer Huston Street is going to go through that same thing in a couple of years.... I don't trust the Marlins' Guillermo Mota to throw meaningful innings. There's something lacking there.

His stuff is plenty good enough. But he doesn't bear down to finish off hitters.... The Yankees sometimes get into a thing where they start swinging at the first pitch. It's not their style. They tend to do that more against people with average stuff.... The Pirates' offensive approach is awful. They've got some guys who can hit. But they're such free swingers, anybody with any kind of control can shut them down.... The slow development of their first baseman, Justin Morneau, has had a huge, huge impact on the Twins. They don't get much out of second and short, and when you have two or three holes in your lineup, it's hard in the American League.... Alex Cora of the Red Sox is a garner. When you grade out his tools, he's just a guy. But he plays hard, and he's always in the middle of stuff.... I'd take the Orioles' Eric DuBose, a lefthander who just came up from triple-A. He has as good a changeup as I've seen in the minor leagues this year.... I like Tigers second baseman Omar Infante when I see him in winter ball. He has an erratic arm and makes a lot of throwing errors. That's got to stop if he wants to play every day, but he's stronger than you think.
