The Wildcats open Saturday against Temple, the first of three soft non-conference foes. Look for the offense to be ground-oriented, as Jonathan Beasley and Adam Helm are battling to take over for quarterback Michael Bishop. David Alien and Frank Murphy form a dangerous running back duo, but the line is being rebuilt. While the offense develops, a veteran defense will have to carry a big load behind linebacker Mark Simoneau and a strong secondary. This is a young team that is pointing toward making a serious run at the national title in 2000.
