`As a baseball fan, I'd watch an all-New York World Series (TSN, September 6), but as an Indians fan, I'd root for them both to lose.'

Subway slight
Michael Knisley's assessment of a possible subway series is shortsighted, (TSN, September 6). He compares the Mets' and Yankees' everyday lineups, giving the Yankees the nod at only two positions: shortstop (Derek Jeter) and center field (Bernie Williams).
He overlooks three things: Joe Torre vs. Bobby Valentine, the rest of the Yankees' pitching staff and the hierarchy of New York sports.
The Yankees own New York.

Return game
Thank you for your coverage of the return of the Browns, (TSN, September 6). Cleveland and northeast Ohio deserve all the positive coverage we are getting right now after what we had to endure for so many years.

Ring leader
Yo, Fly of little faith and less memory, (TSN, August 30). That deep chuckle you heard was merely M.J. breaking 85 on the golf course. Have you forgotten who discovered the coach, acquired the supporting cast and controlled and manipulated the Jordan ego?
Jerry Krause has always been Jordan's greatest nemesis and yet is still the man most responsible for the Bulls' dynasty.
Let us never question Krause's ability to stay one step ahead of the other G.M.s, two steps ahead of his players and three steps ahead of the Fly.

Flashback
As a longtime fan of the APBA baseball game, I enjoyed the column by Dave Kindred (TSN, August 16). It was a great article, and I'm sure it brought a smile to more than a few baseball fanatics over the country.

Deal with it
To the 22 former major league umpires who handed in their resignations and are "shocked" that Major League Baseball has abandoned them: Welcome to the real world.

High praise
I would like to praise analysts and writers in sports, especially your staff, for their amazing ability to break down the games and the players. You have a demanding and challenging job that requires a talent to absorb a lot of information in a fast-paced work environment in which change is always taking place.
I'm an avid sports fan, especially of football and basketball, who appreciates the continual updates.

Voice of the fan
The Bowl Championship Series is still a joke. It only creates a matchup of the best teams based on rite `opinions of sportswriters and coaches. Why not include the fans' input as well? Many of us are just as qualified as the next person to rink teams.
The bottom line: When push comes to shove, until there is a playoff, it will always be a "mythical" national championship.
