Sheldon Brown CB, Eagles

Sporting News, The,  Sept 30, 2005

HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 5-10/200

STRENGTHS: Is a solid athlete with good height and bulk. Has excellent speed, is very fluid and can turn and run. Has excellent ball skills and is outstanding at closing on the ball. Doesn't waste motion; has very good body control. Sees the field well and has good recognition skills. Will challenge for the ball and make big plays. Uses his strength and hands well to redirect receivers and take them off routes early. Is a tenacious run defender; will come up to the line and deliver a hit. Has very good tackling skills. Is an excellent blitzer who can come off the edge or out of the slot. Has explosive short-area quickness and a great first step.

WEAKNESSES: Can be too aggressive. Will jump routes and get caught taking chances. Struggles at times on an island against elite speed receivers but continues to improve with experience.

BOTTOM LINE: Brown, a second-round pick in 2002, should have made it to the Pro Bowl last season, his first as a full-time starter. If he has the same type of season in 2005, he should be a lock to go to Hawaii. He's an aggressive, smash-mouth type who has developed into one of the most consistent defensive players in the league.--War Room scouts
