Judgment call
Sporting News, The, Sept 30, 2005 by Vinnie Iyer
On the docket: Jake Delhomme vs. Jake Plummer.
Arguments: Though Delhomme is likely to be more consistent and efficient, Plummer is capable of a huge game one week (usually at home) and a clunker the next. Neither is recommended as a weekly starter, but you can get good plays out of each in the right matchups.
Verdict: Delhomme. You can live dangerously with the Snake, but it's better to cut down on fantasy frustrations and have a steadier hand in your arsenal.
On the docket: Domanick Davis vs. Ahman Green.
Arguments: Both backs are versatile runner-receivers, but durability and offensive line questions are causes for concern. Davis doesn't get much help from Houston's passing game, and Green doesn't consistently get the carries he needs to produce big numbers.

Verdict: Davis. Though Green plays in a more explosive offense, Davis will rack up more total yards and touchdowns after he gets past a tough early schedule.
On the docket: Larry Fitzgerald vs. Isaac Bruce.
Arguments: Fitzgerald is Kurt Warner's favorite target in Arizona; Bruce is older and used to be Warner's go-to guy in St. Louis. Both are terrific route runners and play for coaches who like to pass, but though Fitzgerald is more of a co-No. 1 opposite Anquan Boldin, Bruce clearly is second to Torry Holt and will lose some catches to Kevin Curtis and Shaun McDonald.
Verdict: Fitzgerald. Bruce quietly is having a Canton-worthy career, but the second-year Cardinal has the brighter future.
