Cadillac Williams: giving the Bucs some great mileage

Sporting News, The,  Oct 7, 2005

After splitting time at Auburn with Ronnie Brown, Williams is showing the power and speed that could make him a star in the NFL. He seems set to easily eclipse 1,000 yards after posting 1,000-yard seasons his last two years in college. His 88 carries and 434 rushing yards lead the NFL, and he has accumulated 151 more rushing yards than the two backs selected before him in the draft--Brown and Cedric Benson--have combined.

Williams is a big reason the Bucs are off to a 3-0 start after a 5-11 season. He is a workhorse who also can provide the big play; he already has five runs of 20 yards or more. He has a solid frame (5-11, 217), hits holes well and often breaks the first tackle. He reaches top speed quickly and finds a way to keep his legs churning as he's moving through the line. He gives the Bucs the offensive balance they had been lacking, and they hope to ride him to a postseason berth.
