3-and out: West Virginia's loss exposed the Big East

My biggest beef is that the Big East still has an automatic BCS bid. West Virginia lost any chance to get to the title game when it lost to Virginia Tech, but it still will cruise to a huge payday for its league--which might be better than only the Sun Belt in Division I-A.

At the risk of being called a shill for the SEC and CBS, let me say there absolutely is no doubt the SEC is the best conference this season. The Big 12 is the second-best league--followed by the ACC and the Pac-10--but the drop-off is significant.

I want to see every team in the elite conferences lose at least once, and at least two of the flies in the ointment-Utah, Louisville, Boise State, et al.--go undefeated. How embarrassing would it be to the BCS honchos to have to leave out one of them?
