1 haven't used my term for unbeaten non-BCS teams--"flies in the ointment"--this season because there are none left. Perhaps the fly is the Harris Interactive Poll. Its damage will be unclear until the first BCS poll comes out on October 17.

2 Congratulations to Joe Paterno. A lot of talking heads, including me, have to eat some crow after Penn State's win against Ohio State. JoePa has given more autonomy to his coordinators, and he has recruited faster players. Those moves are paying off.
