Shanny gets blindsided
After Cincinnati's Tony Williams broke his ankle on a hit by Denver's George Foster, Mike Shanahan came under extreme fire around the league tar encouraging his linemen to use the 2chop block. This outraged the Broncos coach, who thought the attacks were personal, malicious and way off base. In other words, Shanahan didn't like getting hit below the belt. You know, like a chop block.
And now a Buckeye shot
Craig Krenzel became just the second rookie QB to start an NFL game this season, getting the call even before hotshots Eli Manning and Philip Rivers. Krenzel swore he wasn't nervous leading up to his big debut, presumably because the Bears' system is very similar to the one he ran at Ohio State. Both teams like to me the pass to set up the punt.

Hitting your target
In the exhibition season alone, Ray Allen and Kobe spoke menacingly about each other; Brendan Haywond, Eddy Curry and Antonio Davis got suspended for throwing punches, and Paul Pierce was fined for spitting in the direction of an opponent's bench. Well, that's one way to court the bored NHL fan.
The conservative approach to recovery
Michigan quarterback Matt Gutierrez, who has been hurt since last summer, had season-ending surgery an his shoulder last week. Paul Gutierrez said that his son is recovering well and will begin throwing again in three months. But when Fly sought a second opinion, Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr said Gutierrez will begin handing off again in three months.
Not interested in being a platoon manager
Wally Backman pulled himself out of the running to be the Mets' new manager, even though that's the organization he played for almost exclusively during his career. Apparently, he was concerned that the Mets wouldn't let him manage against teams from the left coast
At least the view was good
According to media research, the average fan spent 2 hours, 42 minutes a day sitting on his butt and watching baseball during the playoffs. Or 4 minutes fewer than that day's starting pitcher for the Cardinals.
Hey, didn't you used to be Mat other star receiver named Moss?
