Flip-flops?
Sporting News, The, Nov 8, 2004
In 2003, the Vikings won their first six games and looked like a lock for the playoffs. But they lost seven of their last 10 and were edged out of the postseason after a fluky loss to the Cardinals on the last weekend of the regular season.
There will be teams this season whose second halves bear no resemblance to their first halves. One of them could be the Vikings again, based solely on their schedule. They have four games remaining against the two next-best teams in the NFC North, the Lions and Packers, plus they must play the Colts and Jaguars.
Speaking of the Colts, the second-half schedule will do them no favors. Seven of their remaining nine games are against teams 500 or better.

One common denominator between the Vikings and Colts is poor defense. After seven weeks, the Colts ranked 31st in the NFL in total defense and the Vikings ranked 29th. Bad defense has a way of catching up with most teams.
