Your turn

Sporting News, The,  Nov 11, 2005  by Mark Wilver,  Anthony Miceli,  Jason Winter,  Andrew Somberg,  Damian Carlson

* Brian Baldinger claims these are not "the same old Saints" (TSN, October 28). How are they not, when one week they look like world-beaters and the next they look like the worst team in the league?--Mark Wilver, Sidney, Ohio

* You discredited the entire 2005 MLB awards by not putting Robinson Cano among your top three for A.L. Rookie of the Year (TSN, October 28). To say that he's not even in the top three in the American League is ludicrous.--Anthony Miceli, Westwood, N.J. Editor's note: TSN's player awards were based on voting by 221 A.L. players and 277 N.L. players.

* Your caption on page 42 of the October 28 issue is a perfect example of what's wrong with the NBA (and, to a lesser extent, most of team sports): "(LeBron) James was a rookie not too long ago, so he'll give his rookie coach plenty of slack." How generous of a player to cut his coach some slack. Give me a break.--Jason Winter, Charlotte, N.C.

* In your "Comparing the quarterbacks" (TSN, October 28), I find it funny that you state Philip Rivers has not played enough to be assessed when your half-star quarterback, Alex Smith, has just one start. Please give Smith some time before you say he lacks knowledge of NFL defenses.--Andrew Somberg, Randolph, N.J.

* Standing in water in my $39 high-tops, I might be 5-10. I think I made the fifth squad in high school basketball. But by eighth grade, I had a hook shot. Is it too much to ask of any player to develop a hook?--Damian Carlson, Altamonte Springs, Fla.
