Your turn

Sporting News, The,  Nov 22, 2004  by Mark Wilver,  Todd Stawicki,  Shawn Watters,  Lynn Goucher,  R. Barry Crook

'How in the world can you pick Neil Rackers as your kicker for the all-NFC team (TSN, November 8)? As a longtime Bengals fan, I can tell you he is pathetic.--Mark Wilver, Sidney, Ohio

* The Red Sox's curse has been transferred to the Yankees. New York made the playoffs in 1981. Don Mattingly was called up in 1982, starting a playoff drought that lasted until 1995--Mattingly's last season--when the Yankees lost in the Division Series to the Mariners. This season was the first year Mattingly served as the Yankees' hitting coach, and they lost to the Red Sox. I grew up idolizing Mattingly, but the facts are overwhelming.--Todd Stawicki, Bridgewater, N.J.

* Daunte Culpepper for MVP (TSN, November 8)? Are you kidding me? Culpepper is one Randy Moss away from being Tim Couch. My vote for MVP is Terrell Owens. T.O. has made a huge impact on the Eagles. He makes other players look better.--Shawn Watters, Cleveland

* The "1st and 10" article (TSN, November 1) omitted one of the best passing combinations in the NFL: anyone to Hines Ward.--Lynn Goucher, Oil City, Pa.

* Latrell Sprewell recently was quoted as saying, "Maybe I am what's wrong with sports. If that's what you want to write, go ahead, I'm the problem" Truer words seldom have been spoken. The NBA and its players should have learned by now that Sprewell is a cancer in their midst. He tried to choke his coach, and now he's complaining about his contract. Sprewell is a very bad man, and the league should have thrown him out years ago. You reap what you sow. Say goodbye to your championship dreams, Minnesota.--R. Barry Crook, Austin, Texas
