Carroll was the 100-meter state champion as a sophomore and won the 100 at last summer's AAU national track meet in Orlando. Along with his speed, he has size and tremendous athleticism--all of which makes him one of the nation's top 15 prospects.

RECRUITING TRAIL RUMBLINGS AND LOCKER ROOM WHISPERS BY BOBBY BURTON

Antrel Rolle has so much in common with the Titans' Samari Rolle--they have same last name, play the same position and both attended Dade County, Fla., high schools--you'd think they're related. They're not--Rolle is a common name in the Bahamas, where both have relatives. They do have one big difference--Samari attended Florida State; Antrel heavily favors Miami.... Tennessee has made a habit of signing the best talent out of North Carolina. This season, the Vols already have nabbed Robert Boulware, who holds the North Carolina state record in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.4 seconds.... Marlin Jackson and Cory Ross both have made non-binding oral commitments--Ross to Nebraska, Jackson to Michigan. Because they are expected to make official visits to other schools, the commitments are, in the recruiting vernacular, "soft." Colorado and Kansas are among those in the hunt for Ross. Jackson has yet to rule out Florida.
