No. 38: Pit Crew of the Year
Sporting News, The, Dec 6, 2004 by Lee Spencer
When it comes to relying on the fastest over-the-wall crew, who would the garage most like to have pitting its car on Sunday? The No. 38 M&Ms pit crew. Nicknamed "Chocolate Thunder," the crew was instrumental in giving Robert Yates Racing's Elliott Sadler optimum track position.
The crew: jackman Rodney Fetters, front tire changer Daryl Locklear, front tire carrier Kevin Hall, rear tire changer-car chief Dave Smith, rear tire carrier Lance Hanna, gasman Preston Cordell and catch can man Jay Thompson.
"The guys practiced hard all year long," crew chief Todd Parrott says. "Putting all these guys together for the first time this year and doing all the things they've done says a lot for everybody, including Eddie (D'Hondt, Yates G.M.), who helped bring them all together. I'm proud to know that people are acknowledging the good things this team has accomplished this year."
