I enjoy your player rankings, but you guys were way off with your NBA top 50 (TSN, #25). The most glaring error was the absurdly low ranking of Paul Pierce. Ranking him 28th is an insult to a guy who plays hard every night.--J.T. Weiner, Charlotte
* Wow. After a decade in the league, Steve Nash suddenly becomes a better player than Kevin Garnett because his team advanced further in the playoffs? I wonder if Nash will still rank as high when his team flounders around .500 while its real best player is out for several months.--Brad Burnett, Noblesville, Ind.

* I remember when your top 50 NBA players story was worth reading. This year, I find out you have as much space devoted to NASCAR. I'm sure Rodney Dangerfield would agree that the SPORTING NEWS gives the NBA no respect.--Jesse Fritsch, Menasha, Wis.
* I notice there are no hockey players in your "Most selfish man in sports" bracket (TSN, November 25). While hockey players do some boneheaded things on occasion, it is the one professional sport where it's still all about the team.--Brian Kelly, Waterloo, III.
* How could you rank Manny Ramirez as more selfish than Kobe Bryant? Manny might not be an angel, but he doesn't have off-the-field problems. Kobe does nothing but put his off-the-court problems on everyone else. Also, how about putting Randy Moss on the list? That guy talks trash but only plays hard when he wants to. Another one is agent Drew Rosenhaus. He is the reason Terrell Owens is so hated.--Kelly Pernick, Wilmette, III.
