Kyle Busch

Sporting News, The,  Dec 9, 2005

Young master Busch won't win a popularity contest in the garage, but his fellow drivers recognize his performance numbers: one pole, two victories, 13 top 10s, including nine top fives. If he hadn't failed to finish eight races, Busch, 20, easily could have finished in the top 10.

But let's this out of the way: If Carl Edwards had been eligible for this award, he would have won it. Even though his name wasn't on the ballot--Edwards drove in too many 2004 races to be considered a rookie--Edwards was written in by nearly half of the voters.

"It's definitely an honor to be selected by my peers," says Busch, who drives for Hendrick Motorsports. "I just want to thank all my fellow competitors. It really means a lot."
