From Daniel Novinson, Stanford Daily

Ever see the movie The Perfect Storm, where a bunch of factors conspired to form a beast of a Nor'easter?

That's pretty much what happened to Stanford against Notre Dame. The Cardinal was 5-5 and would have gone to its first bowl in four years with a win. John Kerry, Joe Montana, John Elway and Bill Walsh were in the stands for the last game at Stanford Stadium.

The loss would have knocked Notre Dame out of the BCS and let Oregon in, and Stanford would have received a $1.5 million share of the money from the BCS game. Plus, the loss came on a last-minute collapse, which feels 10 times worse when it's the third one of the year. The game ripped out my heart more mercilessly than the bulldozers that will rip this stadium to shreds. At least the basketball team didn't lose to UC-Irvine or anything (oh, wait).
