Big blog on campus

Sporting News, The,  Dec 23, 2005  by Zach Berman

From Zach Berman, The Daily Orange

After four years of Hakim Warrick in the post, Syracuse is adjusting to a guard-heavy offense.

What does this mean? It means guard Gerry McNamara won't need to control the ball as often if Josh Wright and Eric Devendorf are on the court at the same time. Wright, a speedy sophomore, is particularly important because he's a point guard who can allow McNamara to spot up and find open shots.

The last time McNamara played with a true point guard, Billy Edelin helped lead the Orange to the 2003 NCAA championship.

Don't expect the same result as in 2003, but expect more production from McNamara as the season progresses.
