Cornerbacks: top senior prospects

Sporting News, The,  Dec 27, 2004  by Dan Pompei

Antrel Rolle, 6-0, 205, Miami. Is tough, explosive and strong. Can jam receivers and is an ideal candidate for a cover 2 scheme. Isn't as effective when he lines up off receivers. Has decent speed and athleticism. Similar to Quentin Jammer. Could be considered at safety.

Eric Green, 6-0, 198, Virginia Tech. Is a true cover corner with excellent quickness. Has great feet and hips. Plays the ball well and can play man coverage. Has good size but is not consistently physical.

Corey Webster, 6-0, 202, LSU. Has everything you want in a corner: size, ball skills, cover ability, instincts. Played with a bad ankle this season, and his performance dropped from 2003. Could be better in run support.

Bryant McFadden, 6-0, 186, Florida State. Aggressive corner who would be best suited in a zone scheme. Has excellent instincts and good playing speed. Could be quicker. Isn't afraid to come up and hit.

Carlos Rogers, 6-0, 195, Auburn. Has good size and man-to-man skills. Has body control and quickness and is physical. Has improved his stock this year but isn't always focused. Speed is good, not great.

Marlin Jackson, 6-0, 200, Michigan. Is a big, physical corner who can press and play zone. Is a good tackler. Isn't as fast or athletic as Rolle but has similar characteristics. Excels at covering the slot receiver. Has played safety and could be moved there.

Antonio Perkins, 5-10, 180, Oklahoma. Is quick and athletic and has good cover skills. Can run and tracks the ball well. Is an excellent return man. Does not have ideal size and is not real physical. Instincts are questionable.

Ronald Bartell, 6-1, 198, Howard. Has excellent size, athleticism and quick feet but has not dominated at the small-school level. Stock fell during his senior season. Instincts are questionable.

Domonique Foxworth, 5-11, 178, Maryland. Smooth, fluid cover man who runs well. Isn't as physical as he could be. Can cover man-to-man. Needs to make more plays.

Travis Daniels, 6-1, 190, LSU. Big, versatile prospect who can bounce between safety and corner. Has good instincts. Doesn't play the ball as aggressively as he could.
