Seattle's pass rush is more opportunistic than robust

Consultant now, coach later?

Texans owner Bob McNair keeps telling people he didn't bring in Dan Reeves to be the successor to coach Dora Capers, and he's probably being truthful. But Reeves likely wouldn't mind coaching the Texans. Sources say he had put out feelers regarding the Rams job before this development in Houston.

The company line is Reeves was hired to be a consultant on personnel. That's odd because personnel never was his strong suit. There is little question Reeves will be evaluating Capers, as well as general manager Charley Casserly, and that neither is expected to be employed for long.

McNair's first choice as consultant was Jimmy Johnson, who, interestingly enough, was recommended by none other than Johnson's old boss, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. And if Johnson had been interested, McNair would have offered him more than a consultant's job.
