Do employment opportunities exist for a septuagenarian with great pipes and a clean resume? Sure. USA has golf and tennis. Ditto his native CBS, And there's a standing offer to do selected NFL for Fox. How about this: Summerall as NFL Films' new Voice of God,

* The buzz: Boomer Esiason, Comeback Analyst of the Year, will join CBS' NFL Today roster,

* Vital stats: After 14 ESPN years, Charley Steiner is leaving to do radio for the Yankees ... whose YES channel waived Tim McCarver after 18 seasons in New York ... reducing him to Fox exposures and (this just in) 25 games on local Giants TV.

* Sound bitten: "There are smiles all around the state of Minnesota and six or seven homes in Montreal."--Fox Sports Net's Steve Lyons, on baseball postponing contraction.

* Do not adjust your set: Kobe Bryant, four other players, the two head coaches and one ref wore microphones during NBC's final NBA All-Star Game.
