STREAKING

Sporting News, The,  Feb 22, 1999

The Avalanche became the seventh team in NHL history to record a winning streak of at least 12 regular-season games (and the first since the 1992-93 Penguins) before falling to the Flames last week. Of the six teams that had accomplished the feat, only the '85-86 Flyers didn't finish with the league's best regular-season record (the Oilers were 56-17-7 that season). But what does such a streak mean to a team in terms of foreshadowing playoff success?
