Visiting fantasyland
Sporting News, The, Feb 25, 2005 by Roger Kuznia
Beyond the obvious picks, it takes a discerning eye to identify drivers who can deliver the most value in fantasy leagues. Our picks to click in 2005:
Breakout drivers
Kasey Kahne. He will qualify for the Chase for the Nextel Cup in his second season. As a rookie, Kahne had 13 top five finishes, fourth among all drivers. Three wins is a realistic goal for his team, considering the handful of times Kahne fell just short last year.
Jamie McMurray. Like Kahne, McMurray just missed out on qualifying for the Chase last year. McMurray's 23 top 10 finishes tied for second among all drivers. He performs well on all types of tracks.
Sleepers
Greg Biffle. He has momentum on his side after winning twice in the final 14 races last season. Biffle has loads of talent, having won championships in the Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series.
Cart Edwards. He showed considerable promise in the final 13 races last year, notching five top 10s.
Casey Meals. He finished 22rid in points last year, 13 spots better than in 2003. Mears won two poles and had nine top 10 finishes. With a few breaks, he will be a top 15 driver.
