Top 5: active point guards from the University of Arizona

Sporting News, The,  Feb 25, 2005  by Stan McNeal

1 Gilbert Arenas, Wizards. If he isn't already one of the league's top four guards, he soon will be.

2 Mike Bibby, Kings. The purest point guard of this group, Bibby is considered one of the league's best clutch shooters.

3 Jason Terry, Mavericks. He always has been more of a shooting guard even though he's only 6-2, but he has found a home at the point with Dallas. Since becoming the starter in mid-December, Terry has averaged 6.6 assists, 2.1 turnovers and shot 55.1 percent from the field.

4 Damon Stoudamire, Trail Blazers. He has had his ups and downs with Portland but has been on a roll lately. After barely averaging double figures in the first two months of the season, Stoudamire has been over 20 points per game since. He's also the league's leading free throw shooter at 94.6 percent.

5 Leon Wood, referee. A point guard who beat out the likes of John Stockton for a spot on the 1984 Olympic team, Wood played at Arizona as a freshman before transferring to Cal State Fullerton. He played in the NBA for six seasons before going over to the other side.
