Not anymore. Along with Texas A&M and Washington, Auburn's players now are eligible to exchange those winter holidays at home for the opportunity to watch a bad Bruce Willis movie on Spectravision and savor the delights of a room-service tuna melt.

Here's a footnote for the How Times Change file: 70 years ago, Washington lost to Alabama, 20-19, in one of the most riveting Rose Bowl games. Before finally accepting the bid to play in Pasadena, the Huskies twice voted to turn down their invitation.

They didn't want to leave home during Christmas.
