Michael W. Franke, who joined Wisconsin Central Transportation Corp. on June 15 as executive vice president, reporting to Chairman, President, and CEO Edward A. Burkhardt, "elected to leave" the company effective Aug. 31, WCTC announced on Aug. 30. That's the same day that Burkhardt's forced resignation became effective (RA, Aug., p.
17). Franke went to WCTC from Burlington Northern and Santa Fe, where he was vice president and chief engineer. Burkhardt said at the time that Franke "adds firepower as we continue to pursue a long-term domestic and international acquisition strategy."
