Herzog Transit - In Transit - Herzog Transit Services, Inc., and Stagecoach Group PLC joint venture - Brief Article

Saint Joseph, Mo-based Herzog Transit Services, Inc., and Stagecoach Group PLC, Perth, Scotland, have entered into a joint venture that will focus exclusively on contract operations and maintenance services for light, heavy, and commuter rail transit systems in the U.S. The new company is called TransitAmerica LIC.

Herzog and Stagecoach will continue to serve their current clients, while TransitAmerica LLC will pursue other railroad projects throughout the U.S. Stagecoach Group PLC, founded in 1980, is one of the world's largest rail and bus operating companies. The company operates two British passenger rail franchises, South West Trains and the Island Line, and has a 49% share in Virgin Rail Group. Stagecoach also operates buses in New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, and the U.S. (Coach USA), as well as the light rail system in Sheffield, Britain.
