Is EMD up for sale? - industry outlook

Electro-Motive Division declined late last month to comment on published reports that parent General Motors was in serious discussions with an investor group led by Green-brier Equity Group and Berkshire Partners of Boston to sell EMD. Greenbrier's partners include former UAL Corp. Chairman and CEO Jerry Greenwald and a former Chrysler Corp.
CFO. The sale would include EMD's London, Ont., locomotive manufacturing facility. This isn't the first time that EMD has reportedly been up for sale.
