Cash-short SEPTA presses on with capital program: though strapped for operating funds, the agency is set to deliver $427 million worth of improvements to Philadelphia-area riders in FY '05

Railway Age, Oct, 2004 by William D. Middleton

SEPTA's innovative Cross County Metro project would establish suburb to suburb service across Bucks, Montgomety, and Chester counties, extending west from Trenton, N.J., to Thorndale. The line would be built in two phases, the first from Thorndale to Norristown, followed by a Norristown-Trenton segment. The Route 100 (Norristown High Speed Line) project involves a new 4.9-mile branch to connect the line with the Fast growing, congested King of Prussia Business Park and Valley Forge.

SEPTA has budgeted $31.25 million for current-year planning and engineering for all three projects.
