AW signal - Products - Brief Article
Railway Age, Nov, 2001
Alstom Transport Information Solutions offers a newly enhanced AW signal for North American rail transit operations. The signal, whose function is to ensure the safe flow of train traffic, was designed in response to the industry's demand for safer and lower-cost maintenance, as well as the flexibility of one product for all applications.
The new AW is suitable for both LED and incandescent technology in wayside and tunnel applications. It has several new design features that offer improved safety to maintenance crews. All parts are removable from the back of the signal, including the outer lens. This new design reduces the risk of shock by separating the transformer from the receptacle. Removing the external protruding bolts also decreases the possibility of accident fatalities. The signal also features door hinges and a quick change-out mounting plate for transformer terminal block.
