Railway Age, Nov, 2002

Mexico City's Sistema de Transporte Colectivo-Metro (STC) has selected a Bombardier Transportation/CAF consortium to supply 405 new rubber-tired subway cars at a price of $478 million.

Bombardier's share of the contract will be approximately $319 million.

The work will be performed at Bombardier's railcar manufacturing plant at Ciudad Sahagun, about 50 miles north of Mexico City. Nine 45-car trainsets are to be delivered between the fall of 2004 and mid-2006.

The new equipment will operate on STC's Line 2, which carries approximately one million passengers daily.
