Miami-Dade Transit has named Ronald Barnes deputy director-operations, responsible for Metrorail and Metrobus operations and maintenance, customer service, field engineering, and systems maintenance. A 28-year transit industry veteran, Barnes served most recently as president and CEO of the Central Ohio Transit Authority, and also has held the position of deputy general manager for the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority.
In addition, MDT has promoted three employees. Mayra Bostamante is now deputy director-administration, responsible for information technology, budget and performance reporting, human resources, procurement, finance, and maintenance control. Alberto Parjus becomes assistant director-bus services, responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance. After serving as acting assistant director-rail services since January 2003, Hannie Woodson, Jr., has been named to the position, where he will continue responsibility for day-to-day operations and maintenance of all Metrorail and Metromover systems. He also will oversee the $200 million rail/people-mover vehicle rehabilitation project, which will upgrade MDT's railcar fleet as part of the People's Transportation Plan.
