Sanding system

Railway Age, Dec, 2004

The TrackSider Sanding System from Cyclonaire Corp. offers fast, clean, and automated sand dispensing for passenger rail operations. The compact TrackSider tower measures just 18 inches in diameter, and can simultaneously feed up to four sand delivery wands and service vehicles on both sides of a platform. Its modular design simplifies installation and allows pneumatic line and control positioning for convenience. According to Cyclonaire, sanding wands feature integral dust control, sensors stop sand delivery when rail boxes are full, and a swivel cap helps to prevent wand-nozzle spillage. Advanced PLC controls automatically regulate hose pressure and refill the TrackSider tower from a remote pneumatic conveyor. In a typical installation, a Cyclonaire Dense Phase Pneumatic Conveyor is located under a central storage silo to keep individual TrackSider towers supplied with sand. One primary PLC can operate a system with remotes at each tower for local control. E-mail: sales@cyclonaire.com; Website: www.cyclonaire.com.
