Railroad asset management

Railway Age, Dec, 2004

MRO Software offers MAXIMO Transportation to track and manage rail infrastructure, locomotive and rolling stock fleets, terminals and offices, and computers and servers. With a single repository for all asset-related information, users can manage performance to help improve uptime, reduce acquisition, maintenance, and retirement costs, and increase shareholder value, according to the manufacturer.

Recently, Melbourne's metropolitan rail and tramway company, Thiess Infraco (TI), implemented MAXIMO Transportation for its 540.6 miles of track, 350 bridges and tunnels, 1,700 signaling stations, and 550 passenger stations. "We expect that MAXIMO will provide the quality data to enable analysis and optimization of our maintenance servicing requirements," says Paul Southon, technical services manager for TI. Other transportation users include Bay Area Rapid Transit, MTA Long Island Rail Road, Amtrak, and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. Key features of MAXIMO Transportation include warranty and campaign management, industry codes, labor certifications, transportation reports, maintenance alerts, vehicle data and specifications, position codes, fuel records, and fuel tank monitoring.
