The Chicago Transit Board has approved a $45.5 million contract with Aldridge-Mass, AJV to upgrade the Brown Line's signal system as part of CTA's plan to expand the route's capacity and rehabilitate Clark Junction. The system will be installed between Kimball and Western stations. AldridgeMass also will install new crossing gates and circuitry at six grade crossings and rehabilitate Kimball Tower, At Clark Junction, the contractor will install a new signal system between the Armitage and Addison stations, providing control over 14 crossovers.
Clark Tower also will he rehabilitated. Construction on both projects is expected to begin by year-end.
