BLS AG awarded a $74 million contract to a consortium of Bombardier Transportation and Alstom Transport for 13 four-car commuter trains

BLS AG awarded a $74 million contract to a consortium of Bombardier Transportation and Alstom Transport for 13 four-car commuter trains. The contract includes a 20-car option, which, if exercised, will increase the order value to $182 million. Bombardier will build the cars in Villeneuve, Switzerland; Alstom will supply traction equipment and passenger information systems.

Delivery is slated to begin in spring 2008 and continue through December of the same year.
