A consortium of Bombardier Transportation and Alstom LHB was awarded a $60 million contract by Hamburger Hochbahn AG for 15 four-car Type DT4.6 metro cars for the city of Hamburg.Bombardier's Manuheim, Germany, plant will supply electrical equipment, including traction motors; Alstom's Salzgitter, Germany, facility will supply carbodies, trucks, and brake systems.
The cars are the sixth in the DT4 series and are scheduled for delivery between March 2004 and April 2005, Since 1986, Hamburger Hochbahn AG has procured 126 Type DT4 trainsets from the consortium, including this most recent order; 92 have been delivered thus far.
