Flame-retardant railcar liner - Products

Railway Age, Jan, 2003

Poly Hi Solidur offers the TIVAR[R] 88 w/BurnGuard[TM] railcar liner that maintains all the key properties of TIVAR[R] 88--extremely low coefficient of friction, high abrasion and corrosion resistance, long wear-life--with the added benefit of a flame-retardant package that doesn't fuel flames. MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) approval of the liner should allay concerns about polymers burning when used in coal and other bulk material handling applications where the material could be exposed to a hot spot or smoldering coal. MSHA approval means that TIVAR[R] 88 w/Burn Guard[TM] meets the broad range of acceptance criteria for underground mining applications relating to flammability. During independent laboratory testing against the UL vertical burning test for classifying materials, TIVAR[R] 88 w/Burn Guard[TM] met the 94V-0 criteria. TIVAR[R] 88 liners, noted for promoting bulk solids flow of cohesive or non-free flowing materials due to its low surface friction, reduce or eliminate arching, ratho ling, and erratic material flow challenges in bins, bunkers, hoppers, chutes, and railcars.
