Up Doubles Stake In Mexico - Union Pacific buys up more of Grupo Ferroviario Mexicana - Brief Article

Railway Age, March, 1999

Union Pacific now owns 26% of Grupo Ferroviario Mexicana (GFM), parent company of Ferrocarril Mexicano (Ferromex), which operates the privatized former Pacific-North region of the Mexican National Railway. UP doubled its ownership by buying Constructoras ICA's 13% interest in GFM. Grupo Mexico holds the remaining 74% ownership.

UP joined Grupo Mexico and ICA in 1997 in a successful bid for a 50-year concession to operate the Pacific-North Railway.
