Under a renegotiated long-term contract, Burlington Northern and Santa Fe will haul 23 million tons of coal this year for Detroit Edison and subsidiary companies. BNSF will move the coal from Powder River Basin mines in Wyoming and Montana to the Midwest Energy Resources terminal in Superior, Wis., and to Chicago for interchange with other railroads.
