ECHELON CORPORATION'S LonWorks(r) system, an open-architecture, interoperable platform for control applications, has been incorporated into IEEE draft standard P1473 for rail transit vehicle trainline communications. "According to a Transportation Research Board study, IEEE P1473 will result in less car wiring, lower weight, and improved systems integration, reliability, and maintainability," says Echelon.
LonWorks is also the AAR control standard for ECP brake systems, and the vehicle standard for NYC Transit.
