JOHNSTOWN AMERICA INDUSTRIES reported record revenues, $966.1 million, and net income, $37.9 million, for 1998. This compares with revenues of $650.3 million and income of $7.5 million in 1997. The company shipped 9,155 freight cars in 1998, compared with 4,507 the previous year, and entered 1999 with a backlog of 9,462 cars, nearly double the year-earlier backlog.
