For 15 months, Union Pacific has been running field tests of Acertek's new AC-RVR brake beam with reversible strut on 120 coal hoppers. The brake beams have extended brake shoe life two-to-four times that of standard and other shoe-saving beams, with an annual savings of $50 per car, says lone A.

Be la Fuente Farias, Acertek GM. The AC-RVR offers over 2.5M resonant vibration cycles at 9G's input and 2M full-fatigue cycles, saving additional $1,000 per car every 10-12 years.
