VIA Rail Canada: Is seeking bids for a four-year contract expected to be worth around $100 million for upgrade of 98 LRC cars. This is the second phase of a C$692 million VIA Rail modernization program. Phase One is a C$101 million contract to rebuild VIA's F-40 locomotive fleet. Global Railway Industries is performing the work at its Lachine, Quebec, plant.

Another phase will invest around C$200 million in improving tracks, signaling, and other infrastructure. Remaining funds in the program will support VIA operations while modernization work is under way.
