ALSTOM AND FIAT FER. ROVIARIA will supply 54 140-mph tilting emu trains--44 eight-car and nine nine-car sets--to the Virgin Rail Group under a $2 billion contract that carries an option for an additional 44 cars. The trains are scheduled to be delivered by October 2002. They will operate on Britain's West Coast Main Line linking London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, and Glasgow.
