NS wins new automotive business - Industry Outlook - Brief Article

Norfolk Southern expects to generate 93,000 new carloads of traffic annually from the 93 new industries it helped locate along its lines last year, plus the expansion of 33 existing industries for which it provided support. Among the major projects were expansions of auto assembly plants by General Motors and Mitsubishi at Moraine, Ohio, and Normal, III., respectively, and the opening of a new auto processing and distribution facility by Southeast Toyota Distributors at Jacksonville, Fla.
NS will serve additional auto assembly plants under construction by Toyota at Princeton, Ind., Mercedes-Benz at Vance, Ala., and Honda in Lincoln, Ala., all scheduled for completion in 2003 and 2004.
