Railway Age, April, 2003

The portable Composite Bridgeplate from Michigan Scientific Transportation Products, LLC is installed between adjacent multi-level autorack railcar decks, facilitating loading and un-loading of motor vehicles, It was designed to meet requirements provided by the Association of American Railroad's Recommended Practice 951-03. The load rating is three times that of existing bridgeplates (3,600 pounds vs. 1,200 pounds), and it is nearly 40% lighter in weight (23 pounds vs. 39 pounds).
